Network-first deposits for transfers you make regularly

Guides · 2026-09-30

The first time you deposit to an exchange, you check everything carefully. By the twentieth deposit along the same route, the steps become automatic, and that is when mistakes slip in: a different network selected by default, an address changed by the platform, a memo field forgotten. Recurring corridors, meaning routes you use regularly between the same wallet and exchange, deserve a light but fixed routine that starts with the network every time. This guide describes such a routine for deposits to Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget, and explains how to keep a record that makes changes stand out.

Write the corridor down

For each regular route, record the source, the destination platform, the asset, the network by its full name and whether a memo is required. Keep this corridor card private. It becomes the reference you compare against every time, which is much more reliable than memory, especially when you use several routes.

Check the network first, every time

Open the destination's deposit screen fresh and confirm that the network shown matches your corridor card. Then check that the sending side has the same network selected, since some wallets change defaults after updates. Only after the network matches should you look at the address. If anything differs from the card, stop and investigate before sending.

Address and memo

Copy the address from the deposit screen each time rather than reusing an old copy, because platforms can change deposit addresses. Compare the first and last characters after pasting. If a memo is required, enter it exactly. Read the fee shown by the sender. These checks take less than a minute once they are routine.

Log and review

After each deposit, log the date, amount and transaction ID next to the corridor card. If the platform changes networks or addresses, update the card and send a small test before the next full transfer. Review your corridor cards every few months and retire routes you no longer use. Familiar routes deserve the same care as new ones, because habit is exactly what makes small changes easy to miss.
